Wild West Showdown Roller Derby 2012

Come and watch the shootout between some of the top women’s roller derby teams in the Country at the Wild West Showdown March 2-3-4 2012 at the Kitsap Sun Pavilion in Bremerton. There will be 17 teams battling it out on two tracks plus there will be an additional “Challenge Bout” track that will feature unique teams of all ages.

This is one of the marquee roller derby events in the United States and the largest one West of the Mississippi. There will be teams from Pennsylviana, Colorado, Arizona, Oregon, California, Nevada and Washington. This is a “must see” event for all roller derby fans. You can purchase one day passes or a weekend pass so you don’t miss any of the exciting, hard hitting action. Hard-hitting, lightning-fast, and full of attitude, modern roller derby is one of the fastest growing new sports in the country. Unlike its banked track predecessor, the current derby revival uses a flat track to bring the sport right into the laps of its rabid fans. As the popularity of the sport continues to spread, roller derby has made its mark in popular culture, featured on TV shows like Rollergirls on A&E and in movies like Drew Barrymore’s film Whip It.

Xtreme Bulls Coming In August 2012!

Xtreme Bulls is coming back for its 8th year, bringing exciting levels of exposure to both the sport of bull riding and to the Kitsap Stampede & Rodeo. This year in August 2012, Xtreme Bull riding fans  will enjoy some of the most intense bull riding competition in professional rodeo.

This five-day event provides something for everyone, including carnival rides, 4-H displays, arts and crafts, live entertainment, baking competitions and, of course, fan favorites: the Stampede and Xtreme Bulls competition. For over 60 years, folks have come from miles around to see what the ruckus in Kitsap County, Washington was all about. Every year that ruckus gets bigger, the contestants more daring and bold. When the bulls, the horses, the clowns come to town…well, let’s just say you’ll want to see what’s kicking up all that dust. It’s about time you came to the Kitsap County Stampede. We’ve been nominated “Rodeo of the Year” for 6 years in a row! We look forward to seeing you in 2012!

Haunted Fairgrounds October 14th – 31st 2012!

Kitsap Haunted Fairgrounds  = Ghoulish good time!

Kitsap Haunted Fairgrounds attracts victims from Bremerton, Silverdale, Belfair, Port Orchard, Poulsbo, Seattle and beyond for the annual scare put on in October. If you haven’t made your way out here before, buckle up – you’re in for a ride through your darkest nightmares. The dates will be in October and will be firmed up in the Fall. The lights will be on from 5 to 6 p.m. for the younger crowd (The experience is rated PG-13, but organizers strongly encourages “skittish” people and families with young children to attend at this time). The lights are then turned off from 6 to 11 p.m. General admission tickets are $12 and VIP passes are $20, enabling buyers to go through twice and avoid any lines. Those who bring in a canned food donation for local food banks will get $1 off.

A Saturday night in Kitsap County wouldn’t be the same without the sound of crushing steel, the smell of burnt rubber and exhaust fumes that billow up in the sky from some of Thunderbird Stadium’s fiercest warriors!

The popular Destruction Derby (see website here) in the Thunderbird Stadium is a real crowd-pleaser and possibly one of the areas best kept secrets. “It’s thrilling, exciting. There’s lots of action,” said Michael Benson, 20, of Silverdale. “I want to go out there, be a driver.” “It’s a rush, a high,” said David Gould, who was flanked by his wife and children for the show.
